Who we are
Status:
· Bow Valley Naturalists (BVN) was formed as an organization in 1967.
· BVN was incorporated under the Alberta Societies Act and received Charitable Status in 1994.
Objectives:
· Acquire and disseminate knowledge of natural history.
· Stimulate interest in the appreciation of nature.
· Work for the protection and preservation of wildlife, wilderness areas, parks and natural ecosytems.
· Inform members and the public about environmental issues.
Programs:
· Monthly meetings from October through April (except for December) on the fourth Wednesday of each month. 
· Guest speakers present lectures on natural history topics and environmental issues.
Activities:
  · Christmas Bird Counts.  
  · Species Counts.
  · Clean-up project, special projects. 
  · Assist with field monitoring, surveys.
Publications:
· Yamnuska, 1974 (out of print).
· Vermilion Lakes Study, 1978 (available for $2.00 + Postage and Handling)
Newsletter:
· published 3 times a year.
· current and archived copies of newsletter (available at the Whyte Museums of the Canadian Rockies).

A strong membership to sustain efforts to protect the natural world, in the face of ever-increasing numbers and complexity of environmental issues.

· The activities of the Board of Directors consist of:
· Executive meetings.
· Meetings with government officials.
· Representation on issues, preparation of letters and briefs.
· Organizing events, public meetings.
